We live in one of America’s most unique and vulnerable communities. The County’s focus is to achieve aggressive climate change, water conservation, energy and greenhouse gas reduction goals to sustain ourselves, our community and our natural resources.
This effort includes the County’s implementation of GreenPrint – Our Design for a Sustainable Future, which is the framework to synchronize government and community goals and initiatives.

at Florida International University this Thursday, May 10th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is FREE and open to anyone interested in working together to build healthy, sustainable urban forests, parks and greenbelts for Miami-Dade County and South Florida. -
Track and analyze your energy and water use!
Miami-Dade County is pleased to announce the availability of a FREE online energy and utility tracking tool. The free personal energy dashboard, powered by GreenQuest, enables community members to track and analyze the energy and water use for their home or place of business.

Business rebate program officially launches
In celebration of Miami-Dade Green Week and Earth Day, Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and Commissioner Rebeca Sosa officially launched the Miami-Dade Green Business Certification and Commercial Rebate programs on April 20. The first Green Business Certification decal was awarded to La Loggia Ristorante in Downtown Miami. In addition, participants toured the establishment’s kitchen to view the new ENERGY STAR-rated freezers and a food warmer purchased with a $10,000 Miami-Dade commercial rebate.

Residential Appliance Rebate Program
Miami-Dade County is offering rebates to its residents for the purchase of new ENERGY STAR refrigerators & clothes washers. The Miami-Dade Residential Appliance Rebate Program is offered to decrease energy consumption and increase savings on residential energy bills through the replacement of older and inefficient appliances.

Business rebates available
Miami-Dade County is offering $1 million in commercial rebates to local businesses to go toward the purchase of new ENERGY STAR appliances and equipment as part of Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez’s launch of the Commercial Rebate Program. Rebates will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Miami-Dade County hotels that have obtained the State of Florida Green Lodging designation are also eligible.

Follow climate change plan's development
The Southeast Florida Regional Climate Compact recently hosted the 3rd Annual Climate Leadership Summit in Key Largo, where the Draft Regional Climate Action Plan was released. The plan provides a framework for regional-scale action to reduce emissions and prepare southeast Florida for the impacts of global climate change. -
GreenPrint: A community plan for our future
Miami-Dade County’s sustainability plan, GreenPrint: Our Design for a Sustainable Future, is a community plan that calls upon government, groups and individuals to achieve a greener future and greater quality of life for Miami-Dade County. Dozens of initiatives are included, addressing our economy, climate change, protecting natural resources and much more.
